Hartland Consolidated Schools
District Wide DDC Integration

Hartland, Michigan

Like many school districts in Michigan, Hartland Consolidated Schools has many buildings, but had no way to centrally monitor or control the lighting and HVAC systems in each building in order to save energy and provide better security and service. Engineering Plus, Inc. designed and specified a district wide building management and control system that would replace aging controls with new DDC and integrate existing DDC systems into a single open building management system. The system utilizes the Niagara AX platform and open protocols LonTalk and BACnet to provide HVAC control, lighting control, energy management, alarm monitoring, trending, reporting, and maintenance management functions from a single system that is accessible from anywhere on the district network or over the internet. A total of nine buildings were involved in the initial integration with the intent to add more buildings into the system in the future.
